Outside The Box
you’ve got to find some way to get through the work day that doesn’t involve actual work, and when you’re a returns processor who is obnoxiously “into design”, that means collecting weird glyphs from cardboard boxes. call it a meditation on the mundane, or maybe zen and the art of seasonal employment.
culled from more than 8,000 boxes, these selections serve as a pretty comprehensive survey of U.S. retail shipping box design circa 2024/ 2025. from registration marks and warnings to color bars and edge crush test seals, these symbols mean... something, but to me they’re just another brief hyperfixation that called for a zine.
